Several Agencies & Businesses Team Up on Career Fair for Local Students
On April 18th, area students will have the chance to visit with Jefferson County businesses and learn about career options during the 2018 Madras High School Career Fair.
Students from Madras High School, Bridges Career-Technical School, Madras COCC/OSU Open Campus are invited to attend the first career fair to be offered in Madras in more than a decade on Wednesday, April 18th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. held at Madras High School. In an effort to accommodate the influx of students, Madras High School students are invited to attend from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m., then COCC/OSU students from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.
Currently, more than 25 area employers have committed to participate in the career fair including Bright Wood Corporation, Earth2O, Indian Head Casino, Keith Manufacturing, Wilbur Ellis, and others.
“This is great way for our community to show that we are invested in ‘growing’ our own employees,” said Sara Puddy, HR Manager at the City of Madras, “...we value local talent.”
The event is a result of a community partnership between the Madras-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, City of Madras, Youth Career Connect – Jefferson County, and the 509J School District.
Students wishing to attend the career fair need to sign up in advance of the event at one of the following locations: MHS, Bridges Career-Technical School, COCC, Madras City Hall, or the Madras Chamber of Commerce. Parents are welcome to accompany their students.
For more information about the career fair, please contact Davida Plaisted, Chamber of Commerce at 541-475-2350 or Sara Puddy, City of Madras at 541-325-0303.
