City of Madras Receives Funding for Splash Park

Madras, OR – The Madras community worked hard to raise funds for the Sahalee Splash Park– and now, thanks to a matching grant received by the City of Madras, the rest of funding needed to construct the splash park has been secured. The City received a grant from the Federal Land and Water Conservation Fund, a funding source that wouldn’t have been possible if the Madras community hadn’t have raised the necessary matching requirement imposed by the funding agency. “Our community has been so generous. It’s obvious that this splash park is important to them by how many individuals, businesses and community groups have donated,” stated Jeff Hurd, City Public Works Director.

Once the grant is awarded, the City will move forward with project design and construction to begin in early 2019. The splash park is anticipated to be completed by summer 2019.
