MADRAS CITY COUNCIL APPROVES FOUR CANDIDATES FOR CITY ADMINISTRATOR

Madras, OR – At an August 21st Executive Session, the Madras City Council authorized the selection of the four candidates who will move forward with the next steps of the interview and selection process being conducted by Prothman, for the City’s next Administrator. The candidates will begin by attending a public meet and greet on Wednesday, September 13th at 5:30 PM inside Madras City Hall’s Council Chambers. Members of the public will be able to ask the candidates questions and submit feedback to the Council prior to the final selection. On the following day, the candidates will attend three separate interview panels and a city tour where they will have the opportunity to meet additional staff and see where critical operations are conducted. One interview panel will consist of the City Council and the other two panels will be a mix of community members, law enforcement, educational leaders, business owners, and other professionals who work within the sectors of our community that will be required to work with the City Administrator in some capacity. The Council will then deliberate on the information from these interviews and tours.

The candidates who have been invited to attend are:

Will Ibershof. Will was most recently the City Administrator for the City of Sultan, Washington, serving in that position from 2018-2023. His municipal government service began in 2001 when he became a council member for the City of Duvall, Washington. He was then elected the city’s mayor, serving from 2005-2017, and during his tenure as mayor, acted as part-time City Administrator. Mr. Ibershof has a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Puget Sound and a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Washington.

Charles (Chad) Morris. Chad has been with the City of Niceville, Florida, since 2001. He has been serving the city in a number of roles, including Director of Information Systems since 2001, Director of Purchasing since 2009, and has recently been named Deputy City Manager to reflect the responsibilities he has had for the last several years. Mr. Morris has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the University of West Florida and a Master of Public Administration degree from Troy University.

Nicholas (Nick) Snead. Nick has been the Community Development Director for the City of Madras, Oregon, since 2008. Prior to that, he served the City of Junction City, Oregon, as an Associate Planner, and the City of Bend, Oregon, as an Assistant Planner. Mr. Snead has a bachelor’s degree in Geography from Southern Oregon University, and a master’s degree in Community & Regional Planning and a master’s degree in Public Administration, both from the University of Oregon.

Jeff Watson. Jeff has over 20 years of public sector experience, including serving as Executive Director for the Ann Arbor Downtown Development Authority in Michigan, Director of Economic & Community Development for the City of Dearborn, MI, Community Services Manager for the City of Federal Way, WA, and Division Manager, Housing & Community Services for Snohomish County, WA. Mr. Watson has a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Washington, and a master’s degree in Urban Planning and a bachelor’s degree in History, both from the University of Colorado.
