Loss Prevention
A FEW MINUTES TODAY CAN SAVE YOU DAYS OF RELIEF LATER
It’s a daily occurrence all over the world. People lose their cell phones, keys, and wallets. After the initial panic and sinking feeling dissipate, the overwhelming hassle of replacement begins. Madras Police Department offers you these quick tips to help you quickly recover lost items should you be one of the many people who go through this experience. Perhaps taking a few minutes now will spare you hours, if not days, of hassle and anguish later.
- CELL PHONES: Create a screensaver that displays an alternative way of notifying you should your phone be found (alternative phone number or email address).
- KEYS: Label your key fab or keychain with your phone number.
- WALLET: Place a card with, “If found, please contact” card in your wallet that can be easily seen.
- ID: Keep your address up-to-date on your driver’s license or ID card. (In Oregon, you can update your address with the DMV online.) Per law, found ID cards issued by the DMV are to be returned to the DMV. In a small town, however, it’s possible a person may drop your ID card in the mail to the address listed on the card, so having a current address is important.
There are more tips on the internet, but the main thing is to get your items returned to you QUICKLY by the person who found them. Having proper contact information associated with these items provides you the best chance of getting them returned to you quickly.
